Jackie Knight

I am interested in creating a sense of life and movement to my thrown vessels, using alteration of the form and application of colours, glazes, sgraffitto and brushwork to achieve that effect.I use different clays and different firing schedules , mostly stoneware large dishes and bowls designed for use.I also make hand crafted sculptural tiles with drawn human figures and Raku fired as decorative pieces ,the smoke and lustrous glazes enhance the movement of the forms across the tiles surface.

After a recent trip to Japan I have been drawn to working with more reference to the wildlife of our own British Isles, incorporating birds in my designs still with the emphasis on movement.
